Manchester United are advancing swiftly in their efforts to reshape their midfield this summer.
In recent days, the club have confirmed the signing of Andrey Santos, pulled out of negotiations with Atalanta for Ederson, and activated the release clause of Aston Villa’s midfield powerhouse, Youri Tielemans.
Despite these moves, INEOS remain keen to add one more midfielder to the squad and have now turned their attention to one of the standout performers from the recent World Cup.
Christ Inao Oulai emerged as a key figure for Ivory Coast during their campaign in North America, playing a crucial role in the team’s positive displays.
The 20-year-old, who represents Trabzonspor at club level, made four appearances at the World Cup and impressed observers with his composure on the ball and tireless work rate off it.
His performances on football’s biggest stage have drawn interest from several clubs this summer, with Everton reported to be among his main admirers.
However, according to Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, “even Manchester United” have reached out to enquire about the Ivory Coast international’s availability.
United’s pursuit of Oulai is not merely a reaction to his World Cup form. Back in December last year, The Peoples Person reported that the Red Devils had already held discussions with the player’s representatives.
Oulai is known for his dynamic playing style, excellent ball retention, and relentless energy when pressing opponents.
“Some observers have compared him to Andrés Iniesta for his ability to break lines. The Yopougon-born midfielder has proven capable of dictating the tempo of a match on his own,” AfricaFoot noted earlier this month in their coverage of Africa’s emerging stars from the World Cup.
Another young midfielder who made a strong impression in North America was Morocco’s Ayyoub Bouaddi. Reports suggest that United have been monitoring the Lille player “since the start of the season and throughout the World Cup.”
