Young Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic is reportedly ready to submit a transfer request to secure a move away from the club after Brighton & Hove Albion lodged a third bid for him.
According to Standard Sport, Spurs are currently considering an offer worth £45 million from the Seagulls, while Vuskovic is eager to leave North London in pursuit of regular first-team opportunities.
The 19-year-old centre-back is said to be prepared to formally request a transfer in order to force through a move, as Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi cannot guarantee him consistent playing time next season.
Tottenham have already strengthened their defensive ranks this summer, having sealed deals for Marcos Senesi and Brighton’s Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke.
Manager De Zerbi has been intent on adding both leadership and experience to his squad, with the signings of Senesi, Van Hecke, and Andy Robertson designed to reinforce a backline that conceded 57 goals in the previous campaign.
Vuskovic, who spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg, enjoyed a strong spell in Germany and has drawn attention from several major European clubs.
German giants Bayern Munich and Spanish powerhouse Barcelona are both believed to have shown interest in the Croatian youngster, who hopes to use the ongoing World Cup as a platform to attract further suitors.
The defender started for Croatia in their 4–2 defeat to England in the opening match of their World Cup group and is expected to feature again when they face Panama next week.
Speaking about his future, Vuskovic stated that while his current focus remains on representing Croatia at the World Cup, he is determined to join a club that values him and offers regular playing opportunities.
“For now, I’m focused only on the World Cup,” Vuskovic said. “My goal next season is to play for a club that wants me and where I will play. We’ll see what happens in the coming days and weeks.”
