Knews Desk-Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress have intensified their election preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027. After the positive performance of the alliance in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, both the parties are now busy in making a common strategy for the assembly elections also. According to sources, brainstorming regarding seat sharing has started at the initial level and both the parties can soon prepare a comprehensive blueprint.
There is talk in the political circles that there is a continuous dialogue between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP President Akhilesh Yadav on keeping the alliance strong. Both the parties believe that it is necessary to maintain the alliance to prevent scattering of opposition votes and to give a tough challenge to the BJP.
It is being told that the seat distribution will be based on aspects like past election performance, regional influence and organizational strength. SP, being the main opposition party in the state, can contest more seats, while Congress is planning to focus on its strong areas and traditional strongholds.
The leaders of the alliance believe that better results can be achieved by entering the electoral fray taking social equations, young voters and the farmer class together. Both parties are also planning public relations campaigns and joint programs on common issues.
However, no official announcement has been made yet regarding seat sharing. It has been made clear from both the parties that the final decision will be taken at the appropriate time. At present, emphasis is being laid on strengthening the organization, increasing coordination among the workers and sharpening the election strategy. In UP politics, the SP-Congress alliance is being seen as an important experiment of opposition unity. In such a situation, political analysts will keep an eye on the meetings and strategic decisions between the two parties in the coming months.
