A relief news is emerging amid the long-running military and diplomatic tension between America and Iran. US President Donald Trump claimed through a post on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’ on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) that the ongoing peace talks with Iran are progressing at a very fast pace. However, the ground reality is that due to new attacks from Tehran and retaliatory action by Israel, this ceasefire seems to be weakening from time to time. Top officials of both the countries are behind the scenes looking for a diplomatic way to end this war forever. However, it is not completely clear yet how close the two countries are to signing the final agreement. Will this war end next week? In an exclusive interview with American news channel ABC News, Donald Trump indicated that an agreement with Iran to extend the ceasefire and reopen the closed Strait of Hormuz for shipping could be finalized within the next week. Emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, Trump said that this peace agreement with Iran can prove to be better and more beneficial than any major military victory. When he was directly asked when this deal would be finalized, Trump’s answer was- "I think we’re talking about next week’s deadline."

US-Iran peace talks and regional crisis situation You can easily understand the main developments to this very sensitive international agreement from the table given below: How did Trump rectify the ‘glitch’ between Israel and Hezbollah? The biggest hurdle in this conversation was on the Lebanon front. In fact, Iran had placed a condition that it would not proceed with talks with America until Israel stopped attacks on Lebanon. To break this deadlock, Trump himself took the lead. Trump shared the inside story in the interview. Trump told, "There was a small glitch during the conversation, but I resolved it in a very short time. I spoke directly to Hezbollah representatives and said there would be no firing. After this I contacted Israeli Prime Minister Bibi (Benjamin Netanyahu) and repeated the same thing to him. The result was that both sides immediately stopped attacking each other."

Trump also clarified on Truth Social that he has given strict instructions to Netanyahu not to carry out any major air strikes on the residential areas of Beirut, so that the main deal with Iran is safe. Iran’s special appeal to Pakistan: Play a role in reducing tension. On one hand, America seems confident about the agreement, while on the other hand, Iran is seeking diplomatic help from regional countries in this critical period. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has had a long phone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed deep concern over Israel’s alleged ceasefire violations in Lebanon and the looming threat of attacks on Beirut. Araghchi appreciated the constructive and neutral role played by Pakistan in averting the crisis and appealed to Islamabad to continue its diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East. In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also admitted that at this time it is very essential for the ceasefire to remain in place for the peace of the entire region, otherwise all the existing agreements can fall apart like a pack of cards. Both countries have agreed to remain in constant touch with each other on this issue in the coming days.
