Inder Kaur's death shocks Punjab

According to police and family members, Inder Kaur had left home on May 13 to buy groceries but never returned. Her brother later accused Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha and his associate of abducting her at gunpoint after she allegedly refused a marriage proposal.

After days of searching, police recovered her body from the Neelo canal. Family members identified the body at the Civil Hospital in Samrala. Reports claimed the accused fled to Canada after the alleged murder.

The case triggered outrage on social media, with many users questioning how the singer remained missing for days before her body was found.

Divya Pahuja murder case

Nearly than two years ago, the murder of former model Divya Pahuja became one of India’s biggest crime stories after dramatic CCTV footage and police investigations dominated television screens and social media timelines.

Police alleged that the 27-year-old was shot dead inside a Gurugram hotel in January 2024. Investigators later said her body was dumped into the Bhakra canal in Punjab before drifting into Haryana, where it was eventually recovered after a massive search operation across states.

Authorities said the decomposed body was identified through tattoos and forensic examination. The case grabbed national attention because of allegations involving hotel owner Abhijeet Singh, claims of blackmail, and the mystery surrounding the missing body.

For days, the disappearance of the body itself became one of the country’s most followed crime developments.

Simmi Chaudhary’s body found in Haryana canal

In another disturbing case, Haryana model and Haryanvi music industry artist Simmi Chaudhary, also known as Sheetal, was found dead in a canal in Sonipat in 2025. Police said her body was recovered from the Reliance canal near Kharkhoda.

Investigators later alleged that she had been murdered with a sharp-edged weapon. Reports said she had made a video call before her death, claiming that her boyfriend had assaulted her. Police later arrested him in connection with the case.

The murder sparked outrage across Haryana and neighbouring states, especially among followers of the regional music industry.

One disturbing similarity in all three cases

Though unrelated, all three cases share chilling similarities, young women linked to the entertainment or influencer world disappeared under suspicious circumstances before their bodies were later recovered from canals.

In each case, allegations of personal disputes, murder conspiracies, or relationship conflicts have surfaced during investigations. The discoveries of the bodies days after the disappearances added another layer of public shock. With the latest death of Inder Kaur, those older memories have resurfaced again.
