The Mumbai Indians achieved a powerful beginning through the performance of Ryan Rickelton who delivered an aggressive innings during the powerplay period against Chennai Super Kings. The left-handed batter started his innings by showing his batting plan through his early attacks on the bowlers.

Rickelton hit five sixes in the first six overs which helped him enter a special list of Mumbai Indians players. The player now stands with Rohit Sharma and Sanath Jayasuriya as the record holder for most sixes in the powerplay during IPL innings with Mumbai Indians.

His simple shots produced effective results for him as a player. The player avoided taking any risky actions. The player chose the correct pitches to hit home runs which he accomplished with great success. This helped Mumbai Indians recover after the early loss of Will Jacks. The Chennai bowlers changed their plans because of Rickelton but he continued to attack their bowlers. The player excelled against spin bowling by scoring runs at a fast pace while maintaining a high run rate. The player established a strong foundation for Mumbai during the first part of their batting innings.

Rickelton’s knock came to an end when Noor Ahmad dismissed him. He scored 37 runs from 24 balls, including five sixes. Even though he got out, his job was already done as he gave his team a fast start.

His record becomes more appealing through his performance numbers which show his success against Noor Ahmad. Rickelton has scored 50 runs in T20 matches against Noor Ahmad on 27 balls while getting dismissed only once and that dismissal occurred during this match.

The Mumbai Indians lost their first wicket when Will Jacks scored only one run and they batted first to reach 75 runs with 2 wickets in 8.3 overs. Ryan Rickelton scored 37 runs from 24 balls with five sixes before Noor Ahmad dismissed him. Naman Dhir scored 27 runs from 16 balls while Suryakumar Yadav scored 9 runs from 6 balls. Anshul Kamboj took one wicket for the bowling team whereas Noor Ahmad took one wicket while giving away only 6 runs in his over.
