Today (Friday 27 March 2025) due to Shab-e-Kadra, banks will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir. However, banking activities will continue normally in other parts of the country. The next bank holiday will be due to Ramadan Eid (Eid-ul-Fitra) on Monday, March 31, during which banks will remain closed in most parts of the country except Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh.

Sunday will be a regular week holiday for banks. This is the fifth Saturday of the month of Saturday (March 29), so banks will be open in all states and will follow regular work time.

Extended bank holiday in Jammu and Kashmir

This is Saturday i.e. March 19, fifth Saturday, so bank branches will not remain closed across the country. However, the bank branches will expand in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Bank branches in Jammu and Kashmir will be closed for the following reasons:

Shab-e-Kadra-27 March (Thursday)

Jum-Bubdi: 28 March (Friday)

Bank weekly holiday: 30 March (Sunday)

Ramadan Eid (Eid-ul-Fitra): 31 March (Monday)

The bank holiday calendar list of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given full details of the states and days of the shutdown of bank branches in the month of March 2025.

In addition, you should keep in mind that banks in all states or regions will not remain closed for all days continuously. This is the total number of days when banks in different parts of the country will remain closed for the holidays celebrated by the state. For example, in Bihar/Patna, banks will remain closed for Bihar Day, but in other states they will not remain closed for the same reason.

Holika Dahan/Atukal Pongala: March 13 (Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala)

Holi (Second Day) – Dhulati/Dhulandi/Dole Jatra: 14 March (Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Kerala, Nagaland)

Holi/Yaosang second day: 15 March (Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Manipur)

Bihar Day: 22 March (Bihar)

Shab-e-Kadra: 27 March (Jammu and Kashmir)

Jumat-ul-Vida: March 28 (Jammu and Kashmir)

Ramadan-Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr) (Shawal-1)/Khutub-e-Ramzan: 31 March (All states/union territories except Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh)

The Reserve Bank of India keeps its holidays in three categories – holiday under the conversion act; Holiday under negotiable instrument act and real time gross settlement; And holiday to close the accounts of banks. However, it should be noted that bank holidays are different in different states and not all banking companies consider them. Banking holidays also depend on festivals celebrated in specific states or notification of specific opportunities in those states.
