Tiffany Haddish joins Maggie Grace and Devon Sawa to go after a child killer in their new movie. The crime thriller, directed by Brando Benetton, will be available for streaming on digital from September 4, 2026.
The Girl in the River centers around the murder of a girl in Mississippi. Investigating the case, a young psychologist, portrayed by Grace, and an experienced criminologist, played by Sawa, head to the small town as they find out that the twin sister of the deceased girl is also missing. With time running out, the duo is tasked with saving the missing girl while also catching the criminal responsible for the notorious crime.

The crime drama was primarily filmed in Canton, a historic small town about 25 miles north of Jackson, Mississippi, per MovieLocations.com. The Brando Benetton-directed film was also filmed for a few days in Jackson, as well as at a shooting range in Madison. The movie begins at a shooting range, The Range, where Tiffany Haddish’s character, Erica Graysmith, engages in a conversation with Amelia Pembrock, played by Maggie Grace.
Joe Lemmon and Andrew Stevens are producing the movie. Hicham Benkirane, Alan B. Bursteen, Dawn Bursteen, Rick Moore, Alessandro Penazzi, Jeff Roschman, and Sam Stevens have joined as executive producers for the project.
