Brazil international Richarlison has submitted a transfer request at Tottenham.
Tottenham have omitted Richarlison from their Premier League squad, which was confirmed on Thursday evening.
Spurs have made sweeping changes during the summer, with Roberto De Zerbi receiving significant backing in the transfer market.
The north London side have spent more than £300 million for the Italian coach, breaking the £100m mark to sign Sandro Tonali, while Savio and Mateus Fernandes also arrived for sizeable fees.
The loan signing of Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, with an obligation to buy, further complicated Richarlison’s situation as he slipped down the order among the club’s centre-forwards.
Dominic Solanke is set to stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but De Zerbi disclosed that Richarlison, formerly of Everton and Watford, had repeatedly asked to leave the club before the transfer deadline, which passed on Tuesday for Premier League clubs.
There was interest from his former club Everton, and two separate agreements were reached between Spurs and the Toffees that would have taken Iliman Ndiaye to north London and sent Richarlison back to Merseyside.
However, that move did not go through, as no agreement was reached between Richarlison and David Moyes’ side, while Ndiaye eventually joined Manchester City.
Richarlison, who has also been linked with Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, is understood not to be part of Tottenham’s plans for this season, which is why he has been left out of their league squad.
The forward was informed of the decision before Deadline Day on Tuesday so that a move could be arranged.
He still has an opportunity to secure a transfer, with the Turkish transfer window remaining open until Friday, September 4.
