Hyderabad, August 30: The largest event in Telangana's capital, the Hyderabad Marathon, took place on Sunday. This year, over 3,000 runners participated in the full marathon.
Approximately 2,000 police officers were deployed along the route for security.
This was the 15th edition of the Hyderabad Marathon. Krishna Kumar Thakur, Director of NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation), expressed his delight at the event's success. He stated, "The participation in the full marathon has been remarkable, with over 3,000 people joining. This is a significant number. The weather is also excellent. I believe most runners will achieve their best timings this time, and this number will continue to grow in the coming years, inspiring more people."
He also highlighted NMDC's initiatives, saying, "In our first year, we successfully motivated 184 individuals. NMDC made every effort to facilitate their running experience, including training, kits, and accommodation. Everyone is very happy."
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh mentioned his involvement in all 15 editions of the marathon in various capacities. He remarked, "This is the 15th edition of the Hyderabad Marathon, and I have been associated with all of them, sometimes as a runner, sometimes as an organizer, or as a mentor from the start. The weather in Hyderabad has always been fantastic, which is why runners come from all over the country."
He added, "Hyderabad has become the event capital of India, hosting many prestigious national and international events. Our Telangana police are known for organizing various activities. The government is very supportive, providing us with all necessary resources."
Participants displayed great enthusiasm during the marathon. One participant shared, "I want to do more half marathons and full marathons. I am with the Hyderabad Runners Group, which I joined a year and a half ago."
A female runner caught everyone's attention, stating, "Since I started running, I always run in a saree. I have completed many half marathons. This is my first marathon in Hyderabad. It's not particularly difficult, but it reflects the culture of Maharashtra, which I appreciate."
Another participant noted, "Previously, I participated in Telangana Runners. This is my first year."
