US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to visit India again in October, following his five-day trip in May, US Ambassador Sergio Gor said at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to return to India in October for another multi-day visit, signalling the growing importance Washington places on its partnership with New Delhi.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor announced the planned visit while speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026. Gor noted that Rubio had already spent several days in India in May, making another extended visit within the same year notable.
“The secretary will be coming here to India, but after India, we're actually going to continue, and he's going to travel to Australia, and that'll be another quad meeting,” Gor said.
Rubio's May trip, from May 23 to 26, included meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Indian officials, as well as the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi. The talks covered issues including trade, technology, energy, defence and Indo-Pacific security.
