In Mumbai, the rate stands at ₹1,55,120 per 10 grams. Gold prices have slipped in other cities as well. Last week, the price of 24-carat gold had risen by up to ₹3,490 across various cities, while 22-carat gold became dearer by up to ₹3,200. In the international market, spot gold is trading at $4,379.9 per ounce. Global gold prices rose by approximately 0.9 percent last week.

Gold Imports Rose Marginally in July; Silver Imports Declined
India's gold and silver imports moderated in July following an increase in customs duty on precious metals. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, gold imports rose by only 4.77 percent in July, reaching $4.16 billion. Silver imports dropped by 66.1 percent to $171.6 million. The government had raised the import duty on precious metals from 6 percent to 15 percent, effective May 13.
