Willy Gnonto has been left out of Leeds United’s squad for Saturday’s final pre-season friendly against FC Augsburg after picking up a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s game against Manchester United.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the forward has impressed during the summer, especially after coming on at half-time in Dublin and featuring at right wing-back.
It is fair to say he had been making a strong case to start ahead of the new Premier League season, but this injury has halted that progress.
Leeds are not putting any timeline on his recovery.
There remains hope that the winger will return as quickly as possible.
