Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 Review: A review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 was held under the chairmanship of Union Minister CR Patil at Chhattisgarh Sadan, Delhi. Brainstorming was held with the MPs on providing safe drinking water to every household and expediting the schemes.
An important review meeting was organized on Monday at Chhattisgarh Sadan in New Delhi regarding the progress and future action plan of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. The meeting was presided over by Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil. Chhattisgarh's Public Health Engineering Minister Arun Sao along with state Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs attended the meeting. The main objective of the meeting was to speed up the plans to provide safe drinking water to every household in rural areas and brainstorm on their effective implementation.
Emphasis on providing safe drinking water to every household
In the meeting, the current status of Jal Jeevan Mission, pending projects and upcoming action plan in the parliamentary constituencies of the MPs were discussed in detail. Public representatives also shared suggestions related to the needs and local problems of their respective areas. The government laid special emphasis on completing the work within the stipulated time frame while maintaining the quality of the projects.
The role of MPs will be more important
It was said in the review meeting that active participation of MPs will be important in the success of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. Public representatives were urged to attend district level meetings regularly, cooperate in resolving obstacles in projects and promote the inauguration and transfer of completed schemes to Gram Panchayats through 'Jal Arpan' programmes.
Center and state together will give impetus to the schemes
The strategy to rapidly advance Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 through better coordination between the Central and State Governments was also discussed in the meeting. The officials briefed about the key features and implementation strategy of the mission. Mohammad Qaiser Abdul Haq, Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department of Chhattisgarh was also present in the meeting along with officials of the Union Jal Shakti Ministry. The aim of the government is to ensure the facility of safe drinking water to every household in rural areas in a time bound manner.
