Shooting Incident at the Bite of Seattle Festival

On Sunday evening, a shooting at the Bite of Seattle festival held at Seattle Center resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to four others, including a toddler. According to local law enforcement, initial investigations suggest that two suspects exchanged gunfire outside the Seattle Center Armory, inadvertently putting bystanders in danger. Authorities have stated that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community, but they are actively searching for one of the suspects.

The deceased victims have been identified as a 19-year-old male, a 44-year-old male, and a 56-year-old female. Two of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the third passed away later at Harborview Medical Center. Four others, including the young boy, were transported to the same medical facility. Hospital representatives reported that the child was in satisfactory condition as of Monday, while a 39-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man have since been discharged. Additionally, a 27-year-old man who received treatment at UW Medical Center-Montlake was also released.

The shooting occurred shortly after 6 PM during the popular food festival, causing chaos as attendees scrambled for safety. Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a series of gunshots, prompting families, some with children, to flee the area. Vendors abandoned their stalls as police secured the vicinity. Mayor Katie Wilson described the event as "an unbelievable tragedy," while Acting Seattle Police Chief Tyrone Davis commended the officers present at the festival for their swift response to the gunfire, which likely prevented further injuries.

Details on the Suspect

Authorities have detained a 15-year-old boy who is believed to have fired shots into the crowd. Although he has not been formally arrested, the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office indicated that he is expected to appear in court on Monday. Investigators suspect that two individuals were involved in the gunfire exchange. One suspect surrendered at the scene and is currently being questioned, while the other suspect fled and remains at large. Police have not yet provided a description of the outstanding suspect. The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation has announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of any remaining suspects. The investigation into this tragic incident is still ongoing.
