A significant vegetation fire has ignited close to Washington Terrace, prompting emergency services to evacuate residents from surrounding areas. Witnesses reported seeing flames in the upper terrace region, with the fire originating in a field on the southern side of Washington Terrace.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as a "massive fire in the upper terrace," and evacuations were initiated as the flames spread through the vegetation. Emergency personnel were deployed to the location, but it was unclear how extensive the fire was or if any buildings were at risk.

This incident follows a brush fire that occurred the previous day near a church and residential areas in Ogden, Utah, which led firefighters to revisit the site. Fire officials indicated that the earlier fire, which started on Thursday afternoon near Trinity Presbyterian Church on Tyler Avenue, was caused by human activity. However, the exact cause of ignition is still under investigation, along with whether the renewed fire activity on Saturday was due to lingering embers or a new source.

The initial fire broke out around 3:00 PM local time on Thursday, in dry vegetation approximately 100 feet from the church. The Ogden Fire Department reported that crews from multiple stations, along with several brush trucks, arrived within five minutes. Residents nearby were instructed to evacuate as firefighters worked to control the blaze.

Firefighters successfully contained the fire before it could reach nearby homes or church buildings, with flames coming within about 40 feet of the church before being extinguished. Fire crews remained on-site for several hours to eliminate hotspots, while Ogden Police utilized thermal-imaging drones to monitor the area.

It is estimated that the fire burned around 1.5 acres. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the fire, with witness statements being a crucial part of the investigation. Some witnesses reported seeing two juveniles on bicycles leaving the vicinity shortly after the fire started on Thursday afternoon. One local resident expressed concern about the proximity of the fire to homes, stating, "My house is only a hundred feet from where this started. When you look at what happened up on 9th Street last year, you realize how quickly carelessness can turn into total disaster." The witness added, "Watching firefighters work through the heat to hold that line leaves you filled with gratitude, but as a community, we have to do a better job watching out for our neighborhoods."
