India vs England: The second match of the ongoing three-match ODI series between India and England is to be played today i.e. on 16th July at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Before this match, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken strict action against Indian young fast bowler Gurnoor Brar. Brar, who performed brilliantly in the first ODI against England, has been sentenced to severe punishment with a strict warning after being found guilty of violating the ICC Code of Conduct.
Why was Gurnoor Brar punished?
Actually, this matter pertains to the first ODI match played between India and England on July 14 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Gurnoor Brar, who was fielding during the 8th over of England’s innings, picked up the ball and threw it directly towards the English batsman in an inappropriate and dangerous manner. The umpires present on the field considered it a violation of Rule 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
On-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Mike Burns, third umpire Sam Nogajski and fourth umpire Russell Warren together decided these charges against the player. Brar has accepted his mistake and accepted the punishment given by the ICC.
