NEET UG 2026 Result: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun preparations to release the NEET UG 2026 results. As part of this process, the evaluation of NEET UG 2026 OMR sheets is currently underway, with every effort being made to release the results promptly. This urgency stems from the fact that the exam had to be cancelled following a paper leak; a re-examination was subsequently held on June 21. Consequently, the start of the new academic session is facing a delay. In light of this, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has accelerated its preparations; the National Medical Commission (NMC) is set to release the MBBS seat matrix soon, which may show an increase in the number of MBBS seats. Additionally, the counselling process is expected to be streamlined this time.

Let us understand the situation in detail. We will look at the potential increase in MBBS seats within the seat matrix and explore why the admission counselling process is expected to be easier this time around.

**Meeting to Expedite Counselling**
Due to the NEET UG 2026 paper leak and the subsequent re-examination, the NTA's entire schedule is running about a month and a half behind. This delay threatens to postpone the start of the new academic session. Efforts are being made to complete the MBBS admission counselling process within a shorter timeframe to ensure the session begins as soon as possible. Recently, officials from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the National Medical Commission (NMC), and the counselling committee held a meeting to discuss simplifying the MBBS admission counselling process. It was decided during the meeting that counselling would commence immediately upon the release of the NEET UG results to ensure the process concludes quickly.

**MBBS Seat Matrix to be Released Soon**
Plans are in place to initiate the MBBS admission counselling process immediately after the NEET UG 2026 results are declared. To facilitate this, the NMC will release the MBBS seat matrix prior to the announcement of the results. It is anticipated that the seat matrix could be released before July 15. MBBS seats set to increase
The exact number of MBBS seats available for admission this year will only be known after the NMC releases the 2026 MBBS seat matrix; however, it is anticipated that the NMC may announce an increase in seats, potentially adding up to 10,000 new MBBS seats. The current count of 1.29 lakh MBBS seats could rise to 1.40 lakh, as some new medical colleges are expected to commence operations from this academic session.
