Delhi: For former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, his 54th birthday on Wednesday became very special. In recognition of his brilliant contribution to cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has included him in the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. Ganguly expressed his happiness on this special achievement through social media and expressed his gratitude to ICC and its Chairman Jay Shah.

Ganguly thanked Jai Shah

Ganguly called it a very special honor for him. He said that it is a matter of pride to have his name included in the list of great cricket players. Ganguly also said that he has become only the 10th Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, which makes this achievement even more memorable for him. Apart from this, he also thanked ICC Chairman Jai Shah.

Ganguly posted on X and wrote, “Thank you to ICC and Chairman Jay Shah for inducting me into the ICC Hall of Fame. This is a huge honor for me. I have joined the 10 Indian players who have got a place in the ICC Hall of Fame so far. It is a matter of great pride for me to be a part of this list along with some of the great players of cricket.”

Ganguly’s international career

Ganguly has had excellent performance both as Indian captain and batsman. Ganguly has played a total of 424 international matches for India. During this period, he has scored a total of 18575 runs with the help of 107 half-centuries and 38 centuries. Ganguly has scored 7212 runs in 113 Tests and 11363 runs in 311 ODIs. At the same time, Ganguly has captained India in 196 matches. Under the captaincy of Ganguly, India has won 97 matches.
