Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched the Chief Minister Teachers Cashless Medical Scheme, extending cashless healthcare benefits to nearly 12 lakh teachers and their eligible family members across the state.
The Chief Minister also announced the transfer of Rs.1,200 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of parents of around 1.1 crore school students to help them purchase uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters, school bags and stationery.
The newly launched medical scheme is aimed at providing financial security and quality healthcare to teachers, allowing them to focus on education without worrying about medical expenses.
During the event, the Uttar Pradesh government also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI) to provide social security benefits to nearly 10 lakh teachers and contractual employees.
The insurance package includes life insurance, personal accident cover, disability insurance and air accident insurance, strengthening the welfare measures available to education staff in the state.
Addressing the gathering, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said the cashless medical scheme fulfils a long-pending demand of teachers and reflects the government's commitment to improving their overall well-being.
He added that the DBT initiative ensures financial assistance reaches families directly, enabling parents to purchase essential educational materials for their children before the new academic session. ALSO READ: UP Government to Set Up Large-Scale Biogas Plants with IIT Delhi's Technical Support
