Arsenal are reportedly preparing to finalise an unexpected signing of former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier, with the French shot-stopper set to join the Emirates Stadium outfit on a free transfer. The 26-year-old is anticipated to undergo a medical soon as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his goalkeeping options following the player’s exit from Elland Road.

Arteta spots a valuable opportunity in the market

As reported by The Athletic, the Gunners have acted swiftly to secure Meslier’s signature, viewing the Frenchman as a low-risk, high-upside addition to their squad. Having departed Leeds United upon the expiry of his contract, the former France youth international brings significant experience, boasting 215 appearances over seven seasons in West Yorkshire.
