Cristiano Ronaldo stands on the edge of another historic achievement, and fans across the world are wondering—when will he finally reach 1000 career goals?

The Portuguese superstar and his national team bowed out of the 2026 World Cup after a heartbreaking Round of 16 defeat to Spain.

Although Ronaldo confirmed that this would be his final World Cup appearance, he has not officially announced his retirement from international football.

As he prepares for another Saudi Pro League campaign, the legendary forward has the 1000-goal milestone firmly within sight. The question now is: how soon can he make it happen?

Ronaldo recently ended a two-decade-long wait for glory with Portugal, moving even closer to the historic 1000-goal landmark.

The veteran striker netted his first and only World Cup knockout-stage goal via a penalty against Croatia, levelling the score in that crucial match.

With that strike, Ronaldo’s career tally now stands at 976 goals—a truly astonishing figure that leaves him tantalisingly close to four digits.

During his most recent season across both club and international fixtures, the No. 7 added 33 more goals to his record, suggesting that the 1000-mark could be within reach as early as the next campaign.

In the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo found the back of the net 28 times in 30 matches, including six successful penalties.

He notched his 24th league goal of the season during Round 28 of the Saudi top-flight in April this year, maintaining his reputation for consistency and precision.

If the 41-year-old continues scoring at a similar rate throughout the upcoming season, projections suggest he could reach the 1000-goal milestone by around April 2027.

After finally securing his first Saudi Pro League title last season—having narrowly missed out in previous years—Ronaldo now faces the challenge of defending that crown.

He also demonstrated that age has not dulled his scoring instincts, netting three goals in North America during the 2026 World Cup. That performance made his final tournament the second-most productive of his career, just behind his four-goal showing in 2018.
