Anne Hathaway has been making the rounds on The Odyssey promotional circuit in London, and while her growing baby bump has been drawing plenty of admiration, it is her choice of colour that has set the internet buzzing with gender speculation.
On Monday, July 6, the Oscar-winning actress stepped onto the red carpet at The Odyssey world premiere wearing a baby blue strapless gown adorned with floral accents. She smiled warmly as she cradled her bump, posing alongside her co-stars including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Matt Damon and Lupita Nyong’o.
Fans were quick to read into the colour choice. Several took to social media to suggest the blue dress was a quiet nod to an impending third son, with one writing that she was definitely going to be a mother of three sons. Another asked directly whether she was pregnant with a boy again, while a third pointed out that the colour had appeared multiple times across her recent public appearances and questioned whether Anne was dropping hints.
The speculation gained further momentum when fans connected the dots across several of Hathaway’s recent outings. A few days before the premiere she attended The Odyssey photocall in London wearing a flowy white dress, but earlier in the week she had been spotted in New York in a navy blue knit blazer layered over a simple black tee, paired with relaxed matching blue trousers. The pattern, however coincidental, was enough to fuel considerable online discussion.
Hathaway had confirmed her pregnancy on June 19, sharing a playful video on Instagram in which she walked into frame, paused to show off her bump, and dashed away again. She had set the clip to Barbara Lewis’ classic song Baby, I’m Yours and kept the caption to just the song title.
She and her husband Adam Shulman, whom she married in 2012, are already parents to two sons. Jonathan is ten and Jack is six. A third child would complete what fans are now confidently predicting will be a household of boys, though Hathaway herself has given no direct indication of the baby’s gender.
The blue dress speculation is the kind of light, joyful internet moment that tends to build its own momentum, with each subsequent appearance adding a new data point to the theory.
