  • Black salt – as per taste
  • Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilli – finely chopped
  • Coriander – finely chopped
  • Desi ghee – a little
  • Namak Pare or salty mixture – for topping

Prepare spicy base of Banarasi Tomato Chaat like this

First of all, wash the tomatoes thoroughly and chop them finely. After this, heat some desi ghee in a pan and add chopped tomatoes to it.

Cook the tomatoes on medium flame until they become soft and start releasing their juice. When tomatoes melt well, add mashed boiled potatoes to it.

Now add red chilli powder, chaat masala, black salt and roasted cumin powder to this mixture and mix well. After cooking for a few minutes, the chaat mixture will become slightly thick and the taste of the spices will blend well.

Banarasi Tomato Chaat has sour and spicy taste along with mild sweetness. If you like sweet taste then you can add some sugar to it. The taste of sugar and roasted cumin makes the chaat more balanced. After this, turn off the gas and take out the prepared mixture in a serving bowl.
