In a post on Twitter following their exit from the tournament, the USMNT expressed gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout the tournament. The team acknowledged the role the fans played in supporting the team at home.

Belgium registered a spectacular victory of 4-1

Talking about the match, Belgium entered the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 with an impressive 4-1 win over the hosts United States at the Seattle Stadium. Charles de Ketelere won the Player of the Match award by scoring two goals, while Hans Vanakan scored his first FIFA World Cup goal and substitute Romelu Lukaku scored in stoppage-time to seal the win. This was Lukaku's goal in his third consecutive World Cup match.

Despite the United States briefly equalizing on Malik Tillman's deflected free-kick, Belgium dominated for most of the match.

A costly goalkeeping mistake from Mats Freese gave Belgium the chance to extend their lead, before Lukaku finally sealed a stunning victory.

The loss ended the United States' campaign, making them the last of the three co-host nations to exit the tournament, following Canada and Mexico.

Belgium will next face Spain in the quarter-finals on July 10, the Spanish team has made its place in the round of 16 by defeating Portugal. (ANI)
