The central and state governments run several scholarship schemes for students pursuing B.Pharm, which can significantly reduce tuition fees and educational expenses.
If you wish to study B.Pharm but financial constraints are preventing you from enrolling, this news is for you. The government offers various scholarships that can help students complete their education. Let’s look at the details…
First, let’s discuss the central government scholarships. Students must apply for these through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The portal hosts numerous schemes for students from various categories. Prominent among these is the Post-Matric Scholarship for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and minority communities. Under this scheme, students receive coverage for tuition fees as well as a maintenance allowance for their studies. Eligibility depends on the family’s annual income falling within a specified limit.
The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) is available for the children of ex-servicemen and Coast Guard personnel. Eligible students receive financial assistance ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 annually under this scheme. If you have performed well in Class 12, you may also benefit from the Central Sector Scholarship. This scheme provides financial aid for higher education to meritorious students who have secured the 80th percentile or higher in their Class 12 board examinations.
Highly beneficial schemes
AICTE’s Pragati Scholarship is very helpful for female students. Under this scheme, up to two female students from a single family can receive financial assistance of up to ₹50,000 per year. This amount covers tuition fees and other study-related expenses. Additionally, AICTE runs the Saksham Scholarship for differently-abled students. Under this scheme, eligible students receive financial assistance of up to ₹50,000 annually, enabling them to complete their studies without financial hardship.
Special Scholarship in UP
If you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh or are studying at a college within the state, you can also apply through the UP Scholarship Portal. The state government provides fee concessions and scholarship benefits to students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), SC, ST, and OBC categories.
Required Documents
It is advisable to keep certain necessary documents ready before applying for the scholarship. These include an Aadhaar card, family income certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), Class 10 and 12 marksheets, college fee receipt, and the passbook of an Aadhaar-linked bank account. Under most schemes, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
