Inter Milan are reportedly preparing to challenge Como for the signing of Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The England defender has drawn strong interest from Italy, with newly ambitious Como eager to secure his services. The club recently achieved a historic milestone by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time after finishing fourth in Serie A.
Como’s head coach, Cesc Fabregas, is said to be eyeing a reunion with his former Chelsea teammate, as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of their European campaign. However, reports from Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Inter Milan are also considering Chalobah as part of their defensive recruitment plans.
The Serie A champions are in search of a new central defender this summer, with Udinese’s Oumar Solet featuring prominently on their shortlist. Should the pursuit of Solet not materialise, Chalobah has been identified as a viable alternative for the Nerazzurri.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to undergo significant changes in defence, with several players — including Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Mamadou Sarr, and Chalobah — linked with possible departures.
New head coach Xabi Alonso is keen to reinforce the backline and is reportedly targeting Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix as a potential addition to the squad.
Chalobah, a product of Chelsea’s academy system, could help the club raise valuable funds if sold, as his transfer fee would count as ‘pure profit’ in financial terms. The 26-year-old defender is currently valued at approximately £26 million.
