Elon Musk has predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) technology will soon surpass the combined intelligence of all humans. Responding to a user’s post on X, Musk stated that AI technology is likely to become more intelligent than humans within the next four to five years.

He said that the rapid pace of advancements in AI will enable the technology to exceed human intellectual capabilities in the near future. Musk also predicted that AI would become one of the most transformative technologies in human history.

According to him, emerging technologies will help reshape society in significant ways. He argued that AI-powered machines will boost creativity, make manufacturing easier and provide services that are cheaper and more widely accessible.

Musk further stated that humanoid robots and intelligent machines will soon be capable of performing many tasks that are currently done by humans. He said industries across the world will increasingly rely on AI leading to lower costs and greater efficiency.

Earlier, while speaking at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in January 2026, Musk said: “I don’t know what will happen in 10 years but given the pace of AI development, I believe AI will become smarter than any individual human by the end of this year.”

He added: “Possibly by 2030 or 2031 within the next five years—AI will be smarter than all humans combined.” Musk also said that AI and robotics will drive unprecedented economic expansion and that human-like robots will soon become part of everyday life.

According to him, if development continues as planned, humanoid robots could be available for purchase by ordinary consumers as early as the end of next year with many robots using AI to meet human needs.

In fact, Musk predicted that a time will come when there will be more robots than humans in the world. He believes that robots will significantly reduce shortages in meeting human needs and that adopting robotic technology will eventually become essential for people everywhere.
