New Delhi: A very big and very shocking news is coming out of the country’s politics and the upper house of the Parliament i.e. Rajya Sabha. After the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections, the graph of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Center has increased faster than expected. These election results have surprised the opposition camp, because the NDA has now come very close to the magical figure of two-thirds majority in the Rajya Sabha, on the basis of which even the biggest laws can be passed in a jiffy.

At present, the total number of NDA members in the 245-member Upper House of Parliament has crossed 150. Now the alliance is just a few steps away from the magical figure of two-thirds majority. Meanwhile, a very good news has come for NDA from North-East India, which has changed the entire political equation of the Upper House.

Mizoram’s new MP gave a big blow, but kept this condition along with it

New Rajya Sabha MP elected from the north-eastern state Mizoram. Laltaluangkima has made a big announcement of giving his open support to the NDA government at the Centre, intensifying the stir in Delhi politics. However, he has also attached a very interesting condition with this support. Senior leader of the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) Lalatluangkima said in very clear words that his party is not a part of any national alliance (NDA or INDIA block).

His stance within the Parliament will be completely neutral and independent. But, wherever it comes to major issues to the development of Mizoram, the interests and public welfare of the people there, he will without any hesitation stand in favor of the Central Government in the Parliament and support the bills. He also clarified that ZPM’s Lok Sabha MP Richard Wanlalhamangaiha will also follow the same policy in Parliament and will take his decision according to the circumstances.

There was a one-sided and easy victory in Mizoram’s Rajya Sabha elections.

Let us tell you that in the close contest for the sole Rajya Sabha seat of Mizoram, Laltaluangkima had registered a one-sided victory. He got the overwhelming support of 26 members of the Assembly out of the total 36 valid votes. He gave a crushing defeat to Jothansangi Hmar, the woman candidate of the main opposition party Mizo National Front (MNF), who could get the support of only 10 MLAs.

The most interesting thing about this election was that during the voting, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs and the lone Congress MLA maintained complete distance and did not participate in the voting. At the same time, a ZPM MLA could not reach the Assembly to participate in this important voting due to serious illness.

Know how the opposition’s mathematics failed and NDA got a bonus of 3 seats.

Recently, NDA’s performance in the major elections held on 27 Rajya Sabha seats in the country has been excellent and it has captured 19 seats. Political analysts believed that based on the number of sitting MLAs in the states, the NDA had the strength to win only 16 seats, but when the results came, everyone was stunned. NDA made a big dent in the opposition’s vote bank and took advantage of 3 additional seats directly from places like Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.

After this major upset, the number of alliance members in the Upper House touched the figure of 150. Now Mizoram’s new MP K. After this latest support from Laltaluangkima, the effective figure of NDA has strengthened to 151.

If seen, for any major decision or constitutional amendment in the 245-member Rajya Sabha, it is very important to have the written support of two-thirds majority i.e. at least 164 members. In such a situation, even though NDA is still 13 steps away from this final magical figure, its ever increasing strength has become a big alarm bell for the opposition.

Will the big issue of constitutional amendment and delimitation heat up the country again?

At present, speculations have become very intense in the political circles of Delhi and on social media that if the NDA increases its strength in the Upper House by gathering the support of other regional parties in the next few months, then it can again bring to the table of the Parliament those historic and tough bills which were kept in abeyance due to lack of special majority.

The biggest and sensitive issue among these is the constitutional amendment proposal to the new delimitation in the country, which could not be taken forward earlier due to lack of sufficient numbers. In such a situation, it is clear that this changed mathematics of Rajya Sabha in the upcoming monsoon session can write a new script of many big and historical developments in the country’s politics.
