IPL Orange Cap winner Vaibhav Suryavanshi hasn't lived up to expectations in the ongoing India A tri-series in Sri Lanka. After making waves in the IPL, Vaibhav managed just 117 runs in four innings. His form is a concern ahead of the tours to Ireland and England.

New Delhi: All eyes were on 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who won the Orange Cap with his batting prowess in the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Currently, the India A team is touring Sri Lanka for a tri-series. In this series, India A is competing against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.

Cricket fans were eagerly awaiting Vaibhav Suryavanshi's performance in this series. There was a reason for this. Opening for Rajasthan Royals in the 2026 IPL, Vaibhav batted freely against the world's top-class bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Kagiso Rabada. Furthermore, he has also been included in India's senior team for the upcoming T20 series against Ireland and England. This tri-series, ahead of this high-profile series, was considered crucial for Vaibhav.

How was Vaibhav's performance in the tri-series?

In the final match against Afghanistan 'A', Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again got a good start, but he couldn't convert it into a big score. He scored 38 runs off just 28 balls before losing his wicket. Thus, he once again missed out on a half-century.

It's worth noting that before the match against Afghanistan 'A', Vaibhav had scored 14, 44, and 21 runs respectively in this tri-series. With his 38, he has now scored a total of 117 runs in four innings in this series. Vaibhav, who won the Orange Cap in the 2026 IPL by scoring 776 runs in 16 innings, failed to replicate his old magic in this series. It remains to be seen whether Vaibhav can regain his form for the upcoming Ireland and England series.
