India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur has won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan women in their campaign opener of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on June 14.

“We will bat first. The wicket looks good for batting, and we will put runs on the board. We are excited, and the World Cup win at home has given us confidence. We have broken several barriers, and now we are looking forward to the World Cup,” Harmanpreet Kaur said.
Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana would have batted first as well, considering the good batting conditions, but she is backing her bowlers to bowl well against the Indian team.
“We wanted to bat first, as it looks like a good batting track. As a team, we have done well in the batting and bowling units. We need to bowl well. We have good bowlers, and it will be a good contest against India,” she said.
