BJP’s reaction came after the cancellation of nomination of Meenakshi Natarajan, Congress’s Rajya Sabha election candidate from Madhya Pradesh. BJP leader and minister Kailash Vijayvargiya claimed that it was Congress people who had given us information about Meenakshi Natarajan.

BJP leader Rakesh Singh said that truth has won. Meenakshi Natarajan had not given complete information. There were serious errors in the form. This is a big political setback for Congress before the Rajya Sabha elections. Elections are to be held on 3 Rajya Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh on June 18. There were a total of four candidates in the fray. After the cancellation of Natarajan’s nomination, three BJP candidates are left in the fray.

In the nomination papers filed by Meenakshi Natarajan as a candidate in the Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha elections, it has been found that in the affidavit in Form 26, she has submitted her affidavit incompletely by not mentioning the said court family.

The Honorable Court has taken cognizance of the family’s complaint filed against Meenakshi Natarajan. Summons have also been issued to Ms. Meenakshi Natarajan to appear, hence it was found proven that the case is pending in the court.

Meenakshi Natarajan has also filed her reply claim in the said case before the Honorable Court, hence it has been proved that she has complete knowledge of this case. Therefore, as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, keeping incomplete Affidavit Form 26 and concealment of facts by the candidate was found proven against Meenakshi Natarajan.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha said, “Now the next level of seat theft through vote theft has started. Meenakshi ji’s Rajya Sabha nomination has not been cancelled. Democracy has been murdered.”

Leader of Opposition of Madhya Pradesh Umang Singhar said, “Another dark chapter of murder of democracy by BJP! Misusing its power, pressure and system, BJP got the nomination of Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Meenakshi Natarajan ji cancelled. The voice of Gandhian ideology, honesty and public service which the people wanted to send to Rajya Sabha, BJP has tried to stop it by strangulating the democratic process.”

He further said, “When there is no courage left to compete in the election field, then the BJP misuses the tactics. Today it has become clear that the BJP does not believe in democracy but in dictatorship. We strongly condemn this undemocratic act. The Congress Party will fight at every level to protect the Constitution, democracy and the rights of the people. Truth can be suppressed, but cannot be defeated.”
