An emergency General Assembly of the UN met on 19 August 1982. In which concern was expressed over the ongoing situation in Palestine. The Israeli army treated Palestinian and Lebanese innocent children very cruelly. On which action was taken and keeping this day in mind, June 4 was fixed every year for innocent children all over the world, so that children can be made aware of their rights and safety.

Children are the most vulnerable group in the society. They face many types of security threats in the society. Violence includes recruitment of innocents to fight, kidnapping, murder, attacks on schools, sexual exploitation, sex trafficking. Forced marriage and rape are more prevalent in conflict zones from Congo to Nigeria, Syria to Yemen and Myanmar. In this regard, the United Nations says that incidents of violence against children have increased in recent years. It is essential to ensure the safety of the 250 million children living in conflict areas and countries affected by violence.
