TRIBUNJAMBI.COM, JAMBI - Here is the list of favourite teams chosen by regional leaders and officials in Jambi for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has already reached Jambi Province. As the world’s biggest football tournament approaches kick-off, several regional heads and government officials in Jambi have openly shared which teams they are backing.
Below is the list of Jambi’s regional leaders and their chosen teams for the 2026 World Cup.
Al Haris and the Tango Team
Jambi Governor Al Haris openly declared his support for Argentina.
He explained that his admiration goes beyond their achievements, highlighting the team’s attractive and character-driven style of play.
“They’ve got the skills, the chemistry, and that unmistakable Latin rhythm. I’m a big fan of Argentina,” said Al Haris on Wednesday (3 June 2026).
Al Haris also mentioned several world football stars he admires, particularly strikers.
He predicted that Argentina would advance far in the tournament, at least making it to the semifinals.
He also encouraged the people of Jambi to watch the 2026 World Cup matches through official broadcasts on TVRI.
Fadhil Arief Fancies the Matadors and the Panzers
A different choice came from Batang Hari Regent Muhammad Fadhil Arief.
He revealed that he supports two teams in the World Cup — Germany and Spain.
According to Fadhil Arief, his preference for a team is not always based on the number of trophies but rather on their style of play on the field.
“If their play is attractive, it’s enjoyable to watch,” he said.
Fadhil described Germany as a consistent and resilient side in any situation, while Spain excels in creativity and technical quality.
For the 2026 World Cup title, Fadhil Arief is betting on Spain to lift the trophy.
In addition, the Batang Hari Regency Government plans to organize public viewing events (nobar) at several locations as a way for residents to celebrate the World Cup together.
City Officials Fly the Les Bleus Flag
In Jambi City, strong support is directed towards France. The City Secretary, Ridwan, believes that Les Bleus remain one of the most complete teams and are likely to reach at least the semifinals.
“France’s performance is excellent. Their squad is well-balanced in every position,” he said.
Similar optimism was expressed by the Head of the Jambi City Communication and Information Office, Sale Rido.
He is confident that France will not only reach the final but could go all the way to win the world title.
“France will reach the final, maybe even become champions,” said Sale Rido.
He added that the impressive performances of French players at club level, including Paris Saint-Germain’s success in the Champions League, provide a strong mental boost for Les Bleus.
With the presence of stars like Kylian Mbappé and the team’s overall depth, France is considered well-prepared to compete at the highest level.
Zulhas Chooses Not to Comment
Amid the lively discussions about World Cup favourites, a lighter moment occurred when Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, visited Jambi.
When asked by reporters about his favourite team, Zulhas simply smiled and declined to answer.
The atmosphere turned cheerful when Governor Al Haris jokingly said, “Let’s support Persijam,” prompting laughter from both officials and journalists.
June 11 – July 19, 2026
The 2026 World Cup will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026 across three host nations — the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This edition will be the largest in FIFA history, featuring 48 participating teams and a total of 104 matches.
In Jambi, the World Cup fever is already palpable. The enthusiasm of local leaders adds a unique touch to the anticipation of the global football celebration.
It shows that the World Cup is not only for the players on the pitch but also belongs to football lovers everywhere, even in regional communities.
