BARRU – The Head of the Barru District Labour Office, Syamsir, has declared his support for the Spanish national team in the upcoming 2026 World Cup, on Wednesday (3 June 2026).
He expressed strong confidence that La Roja will deliver an impressive performance right from their opening match.
In fact, Syamsir predicted that Spain would secure a convincing 3-0 victory over Cape Verde in their first game.
According to him, the current Spanish national squad possesses great strength across all areas of play.
“The Spanish national team is very complete. From the goalkeeper and defence to the midfield and attack, all positions are performing with great stability,” Syamsir said when interviewed in his office.
His admiration for Spain began during the nation’s golden era, when the team was powered by legends like Andrés Iniesta and Xavi Hernández.
Syamsir revealed that he has been following the World Cup since 1986.
Back then, he used to watch the matches with his family at home on television broadcasts.
The most memorable moment for him was the final match between Germany and Argentina, which ended with a score of 3-2.
Currently, his favourite player in the Spanish squad is Lamine Yamal.
He also greatly admires the team’s left-back, Marc Cucurella, known for his trademark long hair.
“Lamine Yamal is my favourite player. Marc Cucurella is also a reliable defender whom I really like,” he stated.
The former Pujananting subdistrict head called on all Spanish supporters to unite in showing their support for their beloved team throughout the 2026 World Cup.
“Let’s come together to support La Roja so they can achieve their best performance at the 2026 World Cup,” he concluded.
