Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has recently spoken out about two major issues that have drawn attention to the club in recent weeks, providing updates on Vinicius Jr’s contract situation and clarifying Anas Laghari’s role behind the scenes.
During a media interaction, Perez discussed his future plans for the club while also addressing criticism and speculation over various internal matters. His remarks come at a crucial time as Real Madrid is currently in the midst of its presidential elections.
One of the key talking points during the interview was the involvement of Anas Laghari. His influence within the club has been questioned by presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme, who pointed out that Laghari does not hold an official position within Real Madrid’s organisational structure.
Responding to these concerns, Perez firmly defended Laghari’s presence and explained his relationship with him and his family.
Enrique Riquelme had earlier questioned, “Why is there a person with so much influence alongside the president who holds no official position and yet is involved in most of the club’s operations?”
Clarifying his stance, Perez said warmly, “I saw Anas being born. He’s like a son to me because his father was like a brother to me.”
He continued, “His father was a civil engineer, and we worked together on several projects in Morocco. His father was brilliant, and his son is equally talented.”
Further elaborating, Perez added, “He only helps me because he’s exceptionally intelligent. He also assists me at ACS, though he is not officially part of ACS, and no one says anything. Nobody here is taking any money.”
Moving on to another significant topic, Perez also addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding Vinicius Jr’s contract renewal, which has been a major talking point among supporters and media alike.
With speculation continuing around Vinicius’s salary demands and long-term plans, Perez sought to reassure fans and calm the rumours.
“Some people are mistaken (those who boo him). They read certain newspapers and are influenced by them,” Perez remarked.
He added, “Vinicius is a star, and I’m delighted that he’s with us. He’s very close to signing his new deal. People say he’s asking for too much money, but that’s false. I’m not going to pressure him into anything.”
Perez’s comments suggest that Real Madrid are on the verge of finalising a new contract with Vinicius Jr, a move that will strengthen the club’s long-term plans as they continue to build for the future.
