Arsenal’s winger Leandro Trossard appears to be going through a personal setback off the pitch, as his wife, Laura Hilven, has reportedly deleted all traces of the Belgian international from her social media platforms. The move comes at a crucial moment for the Gunners, who are in pursuit of an extraordinary Premier League and Champions League double.
Social media deletion fuels speculation about relationship issues
Rumours about the stability of Trossard’s marriage have gained momentum after Hilven completely wiped her Instagram account of any posts involving the Arsenal forward. The 33-year-old has removed every picture featuring her husband, including their wedding photos and several vacation memories. Observers have also noticed that Hilven has not been seen wearing her wedding ring in any posts since early December, adding to the speculation surrounding their relationship.
The couple, who have been together for nearly 13 years and married in 2019, were once known for sharing affectionate moments online. A source quoted by The Sun remarked on the sudden change, saying: “Laura used to have lots of pictures on her Instagram showing her and Leandro on their wedding day, on holidays and on date nights, but she has erased them all. If anyone checked her profile now, they wouldn’t even know they were ever together, let alone married.”
From Emirates celebrations to holiday memories — all gone
Hilven’s social media clean-up didn’t stop at personal pictures; she also removed images of herself supporting Trossard at the Emirates Stadium. This included a memorable post from May last year where the couple were seen posing together on the pitch in Arsenal jerseys, captioned: “Our hearts are RED. Thank you for all the support this season. #LOVEFROMUS.” Even snapshots from their visit to Wimbledon last year have disappeared from her account.
Fans have noticed that her recent updates hint at a lifestyle change. In a photo shared on March 2, her wedding ring was absent, replaced by a gold ring on her middle finger. Previously, she frequently posted about key moments in their relationship journey.
Unwanted distraction during Arsenal’s title chase
The timing of this personal issue couldn’t be worse for Mikel Arteta’s team. Trossard has played an important role for Arsenal this season as they compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title. The Belgian forward demonstrated his value with a decisive goal in the 1-0 win over West Ham, helping the Gunners stay in contention for the championship.
Despite apparent difficulties off the field, Trossard has continued to focus on his footballing commitments. He is expected to have a significant impact in the upcoming Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest. Speaking about the much-anticipated clash, the winger commented, “We will be ready for it. In one game, anything can happen.”
From Genk beginnings to Arsenal prominence
Trossard’s rise through the football ranks has been closely tied to his long-term relationship with Hilven. The couple relocated to England together in 2019 when he joined Brighton after winning the Belgian Pro League with Genk. Following four productive years on the South Coast, Trossard completed a £27 million transfer to Arsenal in January 2023. Since then, he has scored 26 goals in more than 120 appearances for the club.
In north London, Hilven was often seen attending matches and spending time with other Arsenal partners, including Bukayo Saka’s girlfriend Tolami Benson and Kai Havertz’s wife Sophia. She is also known to be close to celebrity Arsenal supporter Matt Lucas. However, with her recent decision to remove Trossard from her online presence, it remains uncertain whether she will continue to make appearances at the Emirates Stadium as the season reaches its decisive end.
