Complete mathematics of mileage according to powertrain and gearbox
The company has not made any major mechanical changes in the new Honda City Facelift 2026, but there has been improvement in its tuning and engine efficiency. In the car, customers get the option of two different engines and three gearboxes. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine generates a total of 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. If you choose its 6-speed manual transmission (MT) variant, the company claims a mileage of 17.77 kmpl. At the same time, if 7-step CVT automatic transmission is selected with the same petrol engine, this mileage increases marginally to 17.97 kmpl.
On the other hand, the most talked about thing is its e:HEV strong hybrid variant. It gets a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with dual electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack, which combined produces 126 horsepower and a massive 253 Nm of torque. It has been provided with e-CVT gearbox, due to which this car is capable of achieving record breaking mileage of 27.26 kmpl.

Opinion of auto experts and on-road testing
What will be the impact on the pockets of common buyers?
The starting ex-showroom price of the new Honda City facelift has been set at Rs 11.99 lakh which goes up to Rs 20.99 lakh for the top-end hybrid variant (ZX+). In this budget range, the car is directly competing with premium sedan cars like Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia present in the market. However, Honda City is the only car left in this entire segment which is offering ‘Strong Hybrid’ technology. For those whose daily journey is more than 50 to 60 kilometers, the additional cost of the hybrid variant will be recovered in the long run by saving huge expenditure on petrol.
