On one hand, the company has introduced a new benefit—YouTube Premium Lite—while on the other, it has altered the AI usage limits. The company is now replacing the daily prompt limit with a computer-based system. This means that the extent of AI usage available to a user will now depend on factors such as chat length, feature usage, and the nature of their requests. Google has also implemented a 5-hour rolling window system; under this system, users must wait for their quota to refresh once their current limit has been exhausted.

Why Won't Jio Users Receive YouTube Premium Lite?
Last year, Google and Reliance Jio introduced an offer providing 18 months of free access to Google AI Pro. However, Google has now clarified that access to YouTube Premium Lite will not be granted during this trial period. Vikas Kansal, Product Lead for Gemini AI subscriptions, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that this feature is reserved exclusively for paid AI Pro subscribers. Consequently, if a user is currently utilizing the free AI Pro service through Jio, they will only gain access to Premium Lite once they purchase a paid plan after their trial period concludes.

What Does YouTube Premium Lite Offer?
It is worth noting that YouTube Premium Lite is a basic premium plan that primarily allows users to watch videos without ads. However, the plan does come with certain limitations. For instance, it does not include access to YouTube Music Premium, background playback, offline downloads, an ad-free experience on Shorts, or high-quality audio features.

Why Are Google AI Pro Users Upset?
Following the changes to the AI Pro usage limits, many users have expressed their frustration on Reddit and other social media platforms. Specifically, users on the r/GeminiAI subreddit have complained that Google failed to adequately communicate the details of these significant changes. Some users have noted that engaging in lengthy AI chat sessions now depletes their usage limits much faster than before, thereby compromising their premium user experience.

Google's Focus: Expanding the AI Ecosystem
Google is continuously striving to strengthen both its Gemini AI platform and its subscription models.
