LPG Gas Cylinder Price today May 1
There has been no change in the prices of domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinders, giving a big relief to 33 crore users, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said. However, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 993 and after the price revision, a 19-kg cylinder will now cost Rs 3,071.5 in Delhi. The price hike comes amid a global rise in energy costs due to disrupted supply flows from West Asia.

This is the third time that the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased since February 28, when the US-Israel-Iran war began. It first saw an hike of about Rs 115 in early March, followed by a further hike of nearly Rs 200 on April 1. The 993 increase in commercial LPG cylinder rates is the highest single-day hike by OMCs so far.

Bengaluru hotels to increase food prices

According to a report in Deccan Herald, the hoteliers in Bengaluru are gearing up to increase the prices of food items with the hike in prices of commercial gas cylinders. The report said that customers can expect a general increase of 10% to 15% across the menu, with coffee and tea expected to rise by Rs 2 to 5 (reaching prices of Rs 20 or more).

The prices of breakfast items like idli, vada, and dosa, as well as various rice items, are likely to see a hike of Rs 5 to Rs 15 per plate. Larger meals may see an increase of Rs 25 to Rs 30.

PC Rao, President of the Bengaluru Hoteliers’ Association, told DH that a price hike in food items is inevitable. “Hoteliers cannot run businesses after paying so much to procure cylinders. We urge the Central government to reduce the prices,” he said.
