Bangla Hunt Desk: India's largest government bank is SBI (State Bank Of India). This bank has numerous branches and ATMs all over the country. Not only that, the number of customers of this bank is also increasing with time. In view of which the number of branches is being increased by this bank. As per last financial year figures, SBI opened 137 branches. Out of which there were 59 branches in rural areas.

Big plans of SBI (State Bank Of India):

Meanwhile, by March 2024, 22,542 branches of SBI (State Bank Of India) were operational across the country. There are also 65,000 ATMs and 85,000 business correspondents. Let it be known that SBI plans to open 600 new bank branches in the current financial year i.e. 2024-25. Through this scheme, residents living in developing housing townships and societies will be provided with the facility of SBI branches near their apartments.

What SBI Chairman said: In this context SBI (State Bank Of India) Chairman Challa Srinivasulu Shetty said, “We have energy plans for branch expansion. It will mainly focus on emerging areas. Many residential colonies are still not covered by us.”

He also said, “We have targeted to open about 600 SBI (State Bank Of India) branches this year and are making plans accordingly. We serve nearly 50 crore customers and are proud to say that we are the banker of every Indian and more importantly, every Indian household.”

SBI Chairman Challa Srinivasulu Shetty also informed that “There are still some colonies where SBI (State Bank Of India) services are not available. In such a situation, this new scheme of SBI aims to cover such colonies.” Incidentally, SBI is currently not only the largest bank in the country but is also leading in profitability. SBI's standalone profit for FY 2023-24 was Tk 61,077 crore.
