State Bank of India (SBI) is the largest bank in the country. SBI has the highest number of bank branches and the highest number of ATMs in the country, but now SBI has made a great plan through which people living in the new cities, developing housing townships and societies in the country will get access to ATMs near their apartments. SBI branch facility will be available.
Public sector State Bank of India (SBI) has planned to open 600 new bank branches in the current financial year 2024-25. Most of these are to be opened in housing townships.
SBI Chairman's plan
SBI Chairman C.S. Shetty says that the bank wishes to take advantage of the business opportunities arising in new emerging areas and residential townships. Therefore, now the bank will open 600 new branches across the country.
According to agency news, C.S. Shetty says that the bank has a strong plan to expand its branch network. Mainly the focus of opening branches will be on emerging areas. At present many residential colonies are not within the scope of SBI's branch network.
Last year so many branches were opened
SBI had opened a total of 137 new branches in the last financial year 2023-24. Of these, 59 branches were in rural areas, while the remaining branches were in urban and town areas. By the end of the last financial year i.e. 31 March 2024, SBI had 22,542 branches across the country. SBI also has 65,000 ATMs and 85,000 banking representatives across the country.
Chairman C.S. Shetty says that SBI provides service to about 50 crore customers. We are the banker of every Indian and more importantly, every Indian family.
Apart from being the largest bank of the country, SBI is also ahead in earning profit. SBI's standalone profit in the financial year 2023-24 was Rs 61,077 crore. The share price of the bank closed at Rs 795.50 on Monday and its market capitalization has reached Rs 7.10 lakh crore.
