Users of several banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI) are facing issues in sending and receiving money through the Unified Payment Interface (UPI). Customers took to microblogging site X to highlight the issue. Most of them are SBI customers.One of the X users wrote, "SBI folks exactly shutting down their UPI servers when I’m about to make a payment at a shop with no cash in hand."

Meanwhile, another user tweeted, "Why the hell SBI server is always down & UPI never working? Useless bank with useless system with useless service. @TheOfficialSBI"

There are other users also who did not mention the bank but highlighted the issue.

At the time of filing the report, Downdetector India showed 763 complaints of outage of the State Bank of India's UPI services. What Is UPI?UPI is a mobile-first payment system developed by the National Payments Cooperation of India. With UPI payments, digital payments and transfers have been made easier by just scanning a QR Code or making a payment to a user through their phone number. With UPI, the payment is directly transferred into the linked bank account. In India, UPI can be used on the BHIM App and other third-party apps such as Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, BharatPe and many more.
