300 rupees cheaper LPG gas cylinder, which customers will get a great opportunity?

A gas cylinder currently costs Rs 829 in Kolkata. Recently, while commercial cylinder prices have been reduced by the Centre, domestic cylinder prices have not been reduced in the last few months. PMUY Yojana i.e. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is currently running in the country for gas cylinders. Individuals under this scheme can avail of this benefit. For the next 8 months, customers covered under the Ujjwala Yojana will get LPG cylinders at a lower price of Tk 300 than the general public.
In fact, under the Ujjwala Yojana, beneficiaries get a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder besides getting a free LPG connection. But this subsidy is available only on 12 cylinders in a year. The Union Cabinet extended the scheme till March 31, 2025, just before the Lok Sabha elections. This means beneficiaries can get benefits for 8 more months besides July.

Currently, the domestic LPG cylinder price in Kolkata is Rs.829. So Ujjwala Yojana customers get gas cylinders for just 529 rupees. However, they also have to pay Rs 829 at the time of gas booking. After delivery of the cylinder, the subsidy is directly deposited into the customer's bank account.

Does the common man benefit from the reduction in the price of commercial cylinders?

Notably, hotel and restaurant owners benefited directly from the reduction in the price of commercial cylinders. This cylinder of 19 kg is used in food shops, dhabas, and restaurants. However, as a result, the common customers are also indirectly benefited. The non-increase in the price of commercial gas cylinders also reduces the possibility of an increase in the price of food. What is the price of gas in other cities of the country?

This domestic gas cylinder of 14.2 kg is priced at Rs 803 in Delhi, LPG cylinder is priced at Rs 802 in Mumbai and domestic cylinder is priced at Rs 818 in Chennai.
