Whenever the name of Apsaras is mentioned, it is impossible to overlook the mention of Indra, the king of the gods. This connection is well-documented in ancient texts, which describe Indra as a deity who often resorted to deceit to achieve his goals.

In one such instance, the revered sage Kandu was engaged in intense meditation by the banks of the Gomti River. Disturbed by Kandu's unwavering focus, Indra selected the extraordinarily beautiful Apsara Pramlocha and sent her to disrupt the sage's penance.

Pramlocha was stunningly beautiful, and her captivating features quickly mesmerized Sage Kandu, leading him to abandon his meditation.

As a result, Kandu became ensnared in the allure of domestic life, neglecting his rigorous spiritual practices.

With Indra's plan successfully executed, Pramlocha wished to return to the heavens. However, Kandu, deeply infatuated, refused to let her leave. Despite her desire to return, Pramlocha feared Kandu's curse, which prevented her from departing.

One day, Kandu suddenly remembered his spiritual duties and announced that he was going to resume his worship and meditation.

Pramlocha, surprised, remarked that after all these years, he had finally decided to meditate, having lived in worldly pleasures for so long.

Kandu responded, questioning how she could lecture him on meditation when she had only just arrived. Pramlocha then revealed the truth about Indra's involvement and confessed that she had been with him for a staggering 907 years. Hearing this, Kandu lamented his lost spiritual efforts.

Eventually, Kandu recognized his folly and chose to renounce Pramlocha, returning to his meditation once more.
