Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has announced the recruitment for apprentices in 2026. A total of 495 apprentice positions are available through this recruitment initiative. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online on the official MDL website from June 11, 2026, to July 1, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Application

Application Criteria
The available trades for candidates are categorized into three groups:

Group A: Candidates who have completed the 10th standard can apply. This group includes trades such as Draughtsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Fitter, Pipe Fitter, and Structural Fitter. The age limit for this group is 15 to 19 years as of October 1, 2026.

Group B: Candidates who have completed an ITI course can apply. This group includes trades like Structural Fitter, Electrician, Draughtsman, Electronic Mechanic, Painter, Welder, COPA, and Carpenter. The age limit for this group is 16 to 21 years.

Group C: Candidates who have completed the 8th standard can apply for the Rigger and Welder (Gas & Electric) trades, with an age requirement of 14 to 18 years.

As per government regulations, age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories. Specifically, candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories will receive a 5-year age relaxation.

The selection for the MDL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 will occur in three phases:

The first phase will consist of an online Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Successful candidates will have their documents verified, and trades will be assigned based on merit.

The final phase will involve a medical examination for the candidates.

The application fee varies based on the candidate's category:

• General, OBC, SEBC, EWS, and AFC candidates must pay ₹100.


• There is no fee for SC, ST, and PwD candidates; they can apply free of charge.
