Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue as the central figure in Manchester United’s midfield setup, irrespective of the new additions the club might make during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Recently, Fernandes was honoured as the Premier League’s Player of the Season, a testament to his outstanding influence and consistency for United throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, the club’s management is actively working to sign a player who could be seen as a future version of Bruno Fernandes — a player capable of carrying the creative mantle in the years ahead.
Earlier in April, reports shared by The Peoples Person indicated that Bruno Fernandes himself views West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes as his ideal successor at Old Trafford.
Since then, Manchester United have been assessing the possibility of securing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, particularly as the London club’s stance has weakened due to their precarious position in the Premier League table and the looming threat of relegation to the Championship.
The 21-year-old, known for his technical ability and versatility, first caught attention with his performances in an advanced midfield role for Southampton. Later, he earned recognition as a dynamic all-phase number eight at West Ham, which has led to growing interest from several top European clubs.
According to The Sun, Manchester United have recently re-engaged in discussions with West Ham regarding Fernandes’s potential availability.
The report states that United’s interest in the Portuguese midfielder has “intensified in recent weeks.”
It further adds, “If West Ham are relegated, the Hammers will face pressure to generate funds through player sales, and Fernandes remains one of their most valuable assets.”
In addition to United, both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring Fernandes closely. The young midfielder was also nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, further boosting his profile.
Recent updates suggest that Manchester United would likely be the leading destination for the West Ham star if he opts to continue playing in England.
However, Paris Saint-Germain’s interest could complicate matters for the Red Devils, who may need to act swiftly to finalise a deal for the midfielder, valued at approximately £60 million.
