Cockroach Janata Party is a mystery digital political wave with 20 million Instagram followers. The viral political suspense related to founder Abhijit Deepke's fear of arrest, parents' restlessness, CJI cockroach comment controversy, social media hacking allegations, trademark application and unemployment anger is continuously deepening.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Such a whirlwind has rarely been seen in the history of social media. Within just a few days, an unknown digital platform has touched the magical figure of 2 crores, surpassing the country's largest political parties - BJP (90 lakh) and Congress (1.34 crore) - in terms of Instagram followers. But behind this unprecedented success, instead of celebration, there is a silence of fear in the house of 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke. Abhijeet's parents, living in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, have not been able to sleep for the last two nights. They fear that as soon as their son returns to India, he will be arrested.

That one word of CJI…which made unemployed youth a 'stubborn bunch'
The root of this entire controversy is related to a hearing held in the Supreme Court on 15 May 2026. According to Live Law, Supreme Court Justice Surya Kant had reportedly made a comment saying that some unemployed youth are wandering like 'cockroaches' and attacking others by becoming social media or RTI activists. Although the very next day he clarified that his statement was misrepresented, but by then the arrow had already left the bow. At 11:33 am on May 16, Abhijit Deepke, a 30-year-old Indian student studying in America, turned this insult into a weapon and laid the foundation of 'Cockroach Janata Party', which within no time became the voice of crores of angry and unemployed youth of the country.

X account block, hacking conspiracy and 'cockroach is back' slogan
As soon as the popularity of this virtual party skyrocketed, alleged action from the system also started. On May 21, CJP's main X (Twitter) account, which had around two lakh followers, was blocked. But instead of giving up, a new account was created with the name 'Cockroach is Back' by writing "Cockroaches don't die" in the bio, which garnered more than 1.5 lakh followers in 24 hours. Abhijeet has alleged that continuous attempts are being made to hack his Instagram account also.

5 big scary promises: What is CJP's 'ultra-lazy' manifesto?
This digital party, which describes itself as 'secular, socialist, democratic and lazy', has set four strange conditions to join - unemployed, lazy, constantly online and having the ability to vent professionally. But their election manifesto is very aggressive:
- Complete ban on "reward politics" like sending retired Chief Justice to Rajya Sabha.
- Action under UAPA against Chief Election Commissioner for deleting valid votes.
- Direct 50% reservation for women in Parliament and Cabinet.
- Cancellation of licenses of media houses linked to Adani-Ambani and investigation of bank accounts of so-called 'Godi Media' anchors.
- Defection leaders are banned from contesting elections and holding public office for 20 years.

“Government locks up famous people...” Old parents cry in bad condition
Abhijeet, who studied Journalism from Pune and is currently doing Masters in Public Relations from Boston University (USA), has previously been the social media strategist of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His father Bhagwan Deepke and mother Anita tearfully told the media, "We did not want to send him into politics. It is natural to feel scared after seeing today's environment. People who become famous are often arrested." According to Azim Premji University's 'State of Working India Report-2026', 40% of graduate youth in the country are unemployed. This is the reason why the youth of the country, angry over the NEET paper leak and being fired from the job, are taking to the streets wearing this strange 'cockroach dress'. This movement is no longer limited to just social media, but has become a new and invisible headache for the country's government.
