The moment Chennai Super Kings fans have eagerly anticipated for in IPL 2026 may finally come on Monday. MS Dhoni who has missed several games owing to injury and tactical reasons is now heavily tipped to return to the field for CSK's crucial tie against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Dhoni has been with the squad throughout but has not featured in any game this season. Earlier it was reported that the former CSK skipper had recuperated from his calf injury but was avoiding disturbing the playing XI as the team was well on course to qualify for the playoffs.
But developments in Chennai now have renewed hope of his return.

Videos and photos of Dhoni making his way for practice went viral across social media on Sunday. The clean-shaved look and confident gait as the former skipper entered the ground grabbed the attention of the fans.

He was also seen batting in the nets later images of which later flooded social media platforms and ignited hopes of his return among CSK fans.
The moment of his comeback if he does play would make it even more emotional as the tie against SRH will be Chennai Super Kings' last home game at Chepauk and the fans might be bidding farewell to the legendary wicketkeeper in the process too.
Earlier in the tournament CSK batting coach Michael Hussey confirmed that Dhoni was fit to bat and was still looking to build up his match fitness in terms of running and movements.
CSK require a win to stay alive in the tournament
The return of Dhoni will be crucial at this stage of the season for Chennai Super Kings. Ruturaj Gaikwad'sside is sitting at the 6th spot in the points table with 12 points from 12 matches and suffered a humiliating loss against Lucknow Super Giants in their previous fixture after failing to defend 188.
The Men in Yellow now need to win their last two league matches to maintain their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
His return would also boost the leadership qualities, along with the finishing power in the lower order as well as in immense experience of playing under pressure situation which no other player in the IPL possesses.
