Panjalakatte: In a shocking incident, several stray and pet dogs allegedly died after being fed poisoned food at Kuttikala in Arala village of Bantwal taluk, triggering outrage among animal lovers and local residents.
According to locals, many stray dogs used to stay near the Kuttikala Junction area, and a local resident regularly fed food to both stray and pet dogs. However, unidentified persons allegedly mixed poison in the food, leading to the death of several dogs.
More than 10 dogs are suspected to have died in the incident. Residents said the animals suffered severe pain and died after consuming the poisoned food.
The incident has led to widespread anger among animal welfare supporters. Complaints have been filed with the local gram panchayat and the Bantwal Rural Police Station.
Animal lovers demanded strict action against those involved, stating that poisoning or harming animals is a punishable offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
